RECENT COMMISSIONS GO

Up top is the first badge of FWA pre-order commissions I did, for cubetriangle, EDB-command, Toffy and Ormur. The other two items are a badge and a commission I did for Martinisoft and his husband, respectively.

PRE-ORDER COMMISSIONS ARE STILL OPEN, for badges or for whatever else! Check out my special post I put up a couple days ago on HEART BADGES, or take a look at the COMMISSIONS PAGE on my website for more artistic services I offer. All requests can be sent to ianjaycommissions@gmail.com.

Next time you’re looking for an eye-catching piece of wearable OR frame-able commissioned artwork, why settle for less when you could have a one-of-a-kind piece from IAN JAY COMMISSION WORKS?

Commission piece done a little while ago for cool web dude Aaron but unposted until now.
Pulpy period stuff is something I especially enjoy drawing, even if it’s an itch I don’t scratch that much. Considering how well this came out, maybe I should draw it more…

And here’s the three in one photoset. I’ll print these out, laminate and mail them within the next day or two.

I’ve still got slots left on my commission list for Glitch badges or any of my other cool badge designs! If you want one, hit me up at my commission e-mail at ianjaycommissions [at] gmail [dot] com, or just drop me an ask

Reblogging on my art blog. If you’re gonna hit up a convention full of people wearing badges, why wear one that looks the same as any other? IAN JAY BADGES: wearable art that makes a STATEMENT. (The statement being “I AM A SUPER COOL PERSON.”)

A comic commission I did for Heartwood for winning Lydia’s other auction. He wanted his character hitting on yuppies at a Napa Valley wine tasting.
It’s rare in a cartoonist’s career that they can draw something exactly as they saw it in their head. For me, the fifth panel of this comic page is one of those instances.

A comic I did for Thrax for winning one of Lydia’s auctions. He wanted his wolf character Jakob fighting Lazer Wolf, and I happily obliged. Any excuse to draw Lazer Wolf is a good excuse, in my opinion.

Working on coloring a commission today— another music video screenshot-based piece from the same person who commissioned me to do one last year. In this one, I’m experimenting with lighting a little bit. What do you guys think?

Some badge commission homework I had left over from AC, documented here for posterity, EVEN THOUGH I DO NOT USUALLY DOCUMENT BADGES. I prefer to let them float out of my hands and into the ether after finishing them, like a message in a bottle or a plastic 45-rpm record tied to a balloon. It feels more poetic somehow.
From left to right (links go to FA pages because I don’t know if these people use Tumblr or not): Ezra Starscale, Dungeon Master, and three cyborg jackal characters thought up by Gypsywitch and commissioned by Sneakyferret. (They have real costumes for said characters, too, which look pretty cool.)
If YOU want a badge like this, drop me an ask, or an e-mail. Hi-C’s (the black and white ones) are $25, while Gildeds (the gold ones) are $30. YOU DON’T HAVE TO HAVE AN ANIMAL PERSON CHARACTER TO GET ONE. I’VE DRAWN BADGES WITH REGULAR PEOPLE AND ROBOTS AND STUFF TOO. IT’S COOL. I can whip these out pretty fast, so consider my commission list open until further notice.

surfdog2000:

Okay, six example badges finished. I might do more later, but for now, six should work fine. I’m calling their style “Gilded”, and HERE IS THE OFFICIAL AD FOR THEM.
ALSO: it’s a bummer that scanning these doesn’t allow you to see the coolest part of these badges: the subtly reflective gold ink wash that serves as a backdrop for these characters. It’s a really unique effect that I hope customers will dig. AT THE VERY LEAST, you can check the cool inkwork and the variety of different species, outfits and expressions I can draw ON DEMAND. No cookie-cutter badges here!
IF YOU WANT ONE OF THESE FOR ANTHROCON, or if you just want one for shits ‘n’ giggles, drop me a line or an ask and we can sort something out. (Which hey, by the way: What are your opinions on the price point? Too low? Too high? These are kind of a pain in the ass to make, actually, so maybe not too high, but too low?) I do animal people, I do monster people, I do robot people… hell, I even do people people. Whatever your tastes, I will do my very best to make your jaw drop.
(THESE CHARACTERS BELONG TO akumyo, lamezone, puppytube, thegoodsonisbad, dragonmaw, and technicolorpie, respectively.)

Reblogging to preserve in my art blog, like a bug trapped in amber.

Book pre-order commission for my friend Berni, of him and me as Ghostbusters vs. the late “Macho Man” Randy Savage and his haunted Slim Jims. Good commission suggestion.
