New Epiphany page up on http://ianjay.net! This one is kind of serious… BUT YOU KNOW WHAT IS EVEN MORE SERIOUS?? HOW POPPIN’ OFF THE EPIPHANY PRINT FUNDRAISER IS RIGHT NOW.

Read the comic on my website, then if you dig it, toss a little money towards that Indiegogo page and pre-order a print copy for your very own. WHAT COULD BE SWEETER? NOTHING.

HEY GUYS! Quick fundraiser update: we’re at $931 at the time of this posting— a PRET-ty good number considering we’re not even at the 24-hour mark yet. I’m really psyched at how many people have sprung for the higher tiers so far, but I am also thankful for the people who donated just a few dollars. I also need to thank all of you who have been reblogging/retweeting/remixing/whatever my video and news post. You could’ve spent your money and/or efforts on ANYONE on the internet, but you chose me, so I have to give you all MAD RESPECT.

AND HEY, SPEAKING OF SPENDING EFFORTS: youtuber and Let’s Play-er Crazy Jay Here made a video about Epiphany! If you don’t know what the heck my comic is about, and you need someone with a smooth, charismatic voice to give you the low down on it, LOOK NO FURTHER. Crazy Jay has further cemented my findings that all people with “Jay” in their names are cool people.

Reblogging this not only because I empathize with the idea of trying to make a long-running writing project reach its logical conclusion (7 years and counting now!), but this video is actually hilarious. The thing with the yacht actually got a massive belly laugh out of me, so, good job, Give Ian Your Money Right Now Cool™

ONE DAY LEFT. One day before the fundraiser kicks off. One day before we start a 25-day race to get Epiphany into print. ISN’T THAT CRAZY?? That’s what the cover is going to look like, by the way.
I’ll tell you one thing, it’s been a long, long time since 2008, when I first floated the half-baked first ideas for Epiphany past my college friends. Though updates have been sporadic at times (and admittedly, sometimes for months at a time, totally nonexistent), Epiphany has been the metronome that I’ve set my career by. No matter what sort of crazy mini or class assignment or whatever I’ve worked on in the past five years, it’s all happened in the shadow of this book. People have asked me if I’m sad to finish it off, and I am, but I’m also kind of relieved.
This book grew out of my late teenage years, when I felt like I was going to be ripped apart by some of the external and internal issues I was struggling with at the time. Since then, I’ve grown older, I’ve changed how I think and act, and though I’m still dealing with some of the same issues (and new ones are always popping up), my perspective on them is a little different than it used to be. Look behind Epiphany’s plot and it’s a document of progress, not just as an artist but also as a person.
To everyone who’s supported this project in the past— to old friends, new friends, former friends, former enemies, teachers, family, and of course, all of you completely fantastic readers out there, many of whom I’ll never get to meet in person but who still burn bright as stars in a sea of darkness— thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for making this book a journey worth taking. Even if we don’t make it to $5000, we had a hell of a run.
There won’t be any more news tomorrow night, because that’s when the fundraiser is going live. SO: expect a fair bit of blogging about that for the next month. The show must go on!

WHOOPS, posted this to the wrong blog. OH WELL. Check it out!

AAAAAH EXCITE
Also, will there be extra shipping charges for folks outside the US? Need to know how much to budget for.

THIS IS A SERIOUSLY GOOD QUESTION that i was going to answer on the Indiegogo page but that I might as well answer now as well.
The last time I did a fundraiser, I didn’t take into account just how many orders I’d get from outside the US, and a larger-than-expected chunk of the stretch goal money I raised went to shipping things to awesome readers on other continents. I can’t add region-based shipping charges to donation perks, so this will pretty much work on the honors system.
$16.75 is the magic number when it comes to mailing stuff abroad via USPS First Class International mail. If you’re in Canada, you’re a little luckier: mailing stuff up to you guys only costs $10.55 using the same method. I’ve already factored the cost of domestic shipping into every donation bracket, but if you live anywhere else in the world and you want something shipped to you, I would really, really appreciate it if you could add ten to fifteen extra dollars onto your donation. It’ll really help me make sure I can afford to fulfill your order without draining too much from the project’s funds.
Someday they’ll invent teleporters, and I’ll just be able to hand these books off to you guys and bypass this whole dumb issue. UNTIL THEN, THOUGH: this is what we have to deal with, so thanks for your patience, wherever you may live.

First off: sorry for missing last night’s countdown update. I found myself for various reasons at a bowling alley in Delaware last night, and couldn’t make my way to a computer in time. BUT FEAR NOT, for today we’ve got TWO new tidbits about the Epiphany print project!
FIRST OFF: We’re definitely having a GUEST GALLERY in the back of the book! I’ve got some really rad artists (such as the awesome PhantomSeptember, who made the piece pictured above) working on their own interpretations of the book’s characters and themes, so that’s going to be super awesome.
SECONDLY: I’ve talked a lot about donation perks during these countdowns, but I haven’t actually mentioned how much you’ll have to cough up for each of them. HERE’S THE FINAL PYRAMID-ESQUE LIST OF DONATION TIERS:
$15 - Digital copy of the book.
$20 - Digital copy of the book, plus your name (or alias of choice) in the acknowledgements.
$30 - Printed copy and digital copy of the book with your name in the acknowledgements.
$40 - Set of three “god mode” glow-in-the-dark buttons, plus printed & digital copies of the book w/yr name in acknowledgements.
$65 - Silkscreened tote bag, set of three glow-in-the-dark buttons, printed & digital copies of the book w/yr name in acknowledgements.
$80 - Votive candle, 24k gold button, set of three glow-in-the-dark buttons, printed & digital copies of the book w/yr name in acknowledgements.
$100 - Limited-run Gnashville t-shirt, votive candle, 24k gold button, set of three glow-in-the-dark buttons, printed & digital copies of the book w/yr name in acknowledgements.
$125 -  Original inked page art, t-shirt, votive candle, 24k gold button, set of three glow-in-the-dark buttons, printed & digital copies of the book w/yr name in acknowledgements.
I’m absolutely willing to take donations over $125, and, like my last fundraiser, I’ll be willing to do something cool as a bonus reward— a custom comic page, a video, whatever. I’ll get in touch with you to work something out, don’t worry.
HOLY MOLY, TWO DAYS LEFT?! HOW DID THIS GO BY SO FAST. Our final day of the countdown hits tomorrow, and then it’ll be Fundraiser Eve, and then… gosh, the fundraiser! How exciting! Stay tuned!

AND HEY, ALSO: there’s four days left in our print fundraiser countdown, and today we’re announcing another exciting part of the book’s extras: CONCEPT SKETCHES!
As I said a couple days ago, I’m a bit of a pack rat when it comes to drawings, and I still have piles of scripts, sketches, and half-baked concepts I made for Epiphany during its production. I’m planning on compiling a couple pages’ worth of the most interesting ones, annotating them, and sticking them in the back of the book as a view BEHIND THE CREATIVE CURTAIN. If you’re into process notes at the end of comic books (which I definitely am), then you’re totally going to dig this!
We’re getting MAD SUPER CLOSE, guys. More news to come soon!

FIVE DAYS until the Epiphany print fundraiser kicks off, and we’re announcing YET ANOTHER donation tier: ORIGINAL INKED PAGES from the book! Own a genuine 11-by-17-inch piece of the graphic novel! Hang it on your wall! Stick it to the front of your fridge! Laminate it and use it as a placemat or something! THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS.
This is a tier I had no small amount of reservations about (since I’m sort of a tremendous pack rat when it comes to drawings), but using the art as a perk is sort of symbolic, I guess, as well as cool in a physical way. Epiphany’s printing isn’t just something that I’m responsible for; it’s a group effort that all of you fans and readers are undertaking together with me. In a way, we’re already sharing these pages. It only makes sense for you to have the chance of seeing them in real life as well.
More news tomorrow! You know the drill!
